Veteran couples who have been there, done that cannot stress enough how no matter what you do or how well you plan – no wedding is perfect. If you tire yourself over minor details, how will you be able to enjoy one of the most important days in your life? Don’t let stress ruin your exchange of vows! Consider the following wedding advice when it comes to a few important aspects of getting married.

Wedding Advice: The Ceremony

Many a couple has experienced the disappointment of cloudy skies, light drizzles of rain, and even unexpected thunder and lightning. When planning an outdoor wedding ceremony or reception, you need to have a Plan B set aside. Once you’ve made alternate arrangements, don’t allow the possibility of rainy skies to put a damper on the rest of your wedding planning.

Prepare for the smallest of details to fall through during the last one to two weeks before your wedding date. This is when the florist may call to tell you her shipment of dahlias will not arrive on time or you discover there are 100 (and not the 150) wedding favors ordered for the reception. Just take a deep breath and try not to stress out too much. I haven’t met a wedding that didn’t encounter a few bumps here and there, so this is normal says a lot of veteran couples.

Wedding Advice: Being a Newlywed

Many veteran couples remember all of the pearls of wisdom and professional wedding advice they received before they got married, but to tell you the truth – it never truly prepared them for what to expect out of a marriage. This is because no two couples are the same, and no two marriages are either.

Just because you are married doesn’t mean you are bound and chained to one another. Remember that you and your husband are individuals, who need to respect one another’s individuality, freedom, and outside interests. Don’t forget to promote a boy’s night out or taking a shopping trip with the girls!

Wedding Advice: Money Matters

If trying to set and balance a wedding budget wasn’t indication enough, you probably can already guess that one of the biggest arguments that newlyweds encounter involves financial matters. Before you even walk down the aisle, it’s suggested to clear the air about financial expectations. Is it possible for you to set a budget that the both of you can adhere to?

You want to keep in mind that you will need a savings in the future for golden years filled with prosperity. Financial independence and joint security is important in a relationship, which is why some veteran couples suggest creating three checking accounts:

    * One for him
* One for her
* One combined

All in all – prepare yourself for all of the wedding advice you will receive, but take it from veteran couples who have been through the trenches with their loved one – it’s a roller coaster ride you’ll never forget.
